GDE#2 with Sun Microsystems

On Tuesday the 10th of February Sun Microsystems will have a Game Developer’s Evening. As usual the lecture will start 17.15 and the location is the Student Union Building at KTH in Stockholm.

Contents of the evening:

Introduction To the JavaFX Platform (and language)

From the JavaFX website:

"JavaFX is a rich client platform for building cross-device
applications and content. Designed to enable easy creation and
deployment of rich internet applications (RIAs) with immersive
media and content, the JavaFX platform ensures that RIAs look and
behave consistently across diverse form factors and devices."

In other words, JavaFX is perfect for cross-platform games. This session will introduce the JavaFX platform as well as the JavaFX Script programming language, both design to make it easier to look awesome with Java.

The JavaFX Production Pipeline

Designers work in Photoshop and Illustrator and programmers write code. This session shows how, with the help of plugins those two can work together to create great looking programs.

JavaFX and Physics Engines

Physics engines are … well, necessary, and this sessions shows how to work with a popular 2D physics engine implemented in Java from JavaFX and JRuby.

Packaging and Deployment

We will show you how to package and deploy your application so that the user can run it as an applet, drag it to the desktop and use it as any application. Distribution was never this easy.
